Hello and welcome to the Squirrels in Year 4.

Welcome to squirrels class, taught by Mr Ashton with Mrs Nixon assisting us in the mornings. In year 4 we study a range of fascinating and interesting topics, building on skills that we have learnt in lower years.

In Maths, we develop our multiplication and division techniques as well as adding and subtracting 3 digit numbers, and deepening our understanding of fractions and perimeter. In English, we study some wonderful books including When the Giant Stirred, Leon and the Place Between and Escape from Pompeii, developing key English skills throughout the day. Our foundation subjects allow us to be creative, experimental, scientific, curious and be critical thinkers, with topics that challenge, excite and enrich every child’s thinking and learning.

We also go on several educational visits throughout the year linked to various foundation subjects, such a visits to observatories as part of Science and walks along the River Tawd for our Rivers topic in Geography.

Year 4 is a fun, hard working environment where everyone is encouraged to achieve their highest potential with the support of every other member of the class. We support each other’s achievements and look after each other when needed.

If you would like to find out more, please make an appointment with the school office to come and visit us.
