Curricular Enrichment

As part of our curriculum offer, our children have an enrichment session each week. These sessions are linked to the national curriculum and allow the children to broaden their experiences or study an aspect of the curriculum in more depth. Take a look at our enrichment offer below.

RE

We have found that children do not have general subject knowledge about a range of faiths and this is affecting their ability to engage fully with RE lessons.  Enrichment will give the children a depth of knowledge in different faiths.

Year 1: Christianity

Year 2: Judaism

Year 3: Hinduism

Year 4: Islam

Year 5: Sikhism

Year 6: Buddhism

To include a visit by a practicing member of the faith community and a visit to a place of worship.

Cooking

To encourage healthy eating, provide life skills and contribute towards the Food for Life Bronze Award.  Children will learn a range of skills which will be progressive.

Art

An opportunity to work with others to create a large scale, multi-media piece of art to depict different subject areas which are taught in school.

Poetry (English, Speaking and Listening)

A change to engage with, learn and perform poetry as a  group.

PE

A chance to have lessons in an area of PE not usually covered in the curriculum.

Growing

An opportunity to grow food to cook with and eat.  Culminating in a Farmer’s market.
